Tammy Anderson-Owens- Thoughts

Could you partner with your spouse? I did!

Could you partner with your better half?  I did and I have to admit; I was a little worried about it at first.  A year ago in August my husband's employer downsized and he lost his job.  He looked for another job for little while but nothing really came up that would match what he previously did.  We decided to jump in and he got his real estate license and I am so glad he did.  We heard a lot of people express their concerns but I have to say they were unwarranted.

My husband is a numbers guy, I am a carefree, don't really care about the numbers, just give me the people kind of girl.  Perfect Match!  Perfect Team!  Perfect Situation!  Do we disagree, yes we do but we comprimise and get the job done.  He's organized, I'm a messy mess.  We balance each other.  We play on each others strengths and it has paid off huge.  Since my husband joined my team we have more than doubled my past production, we have purchased a brokerage and we have become even closer partners.

I can't say that we don't need to be seperate at times because we do but that's part of what makes this so perfect.  I can be at the office and he can be working at the home office, I can be showing property and he can be attending a closing.  He does the marketing, I write the contracts, we both show buyers homes.

Imagine cloning yourself as we often wish we could only better!  We need to adapt to the personalities of our clients to get their faith and we all know that isn't always possible.  My chances are so much better now because if he is a better match with a client, he takes over and vice-versa.

If I get one point across in this blog, it is that it can work.  Maybe not for everyone but for a lot.  So if you are thinking about joining forces with your spouse - Good For You and Go For It!

We are a husband and wife team and we love it! Our clients tell us they not only get the best of both worlds but they they get two for one.

I would like my husband to get more involved in my business but, I'm not so sure.  I'm on the fence about it.

Thanks for the post.

I see a lot of it...personally my wife would kill me if we worked together

Patty - Isn't that a great listing tool to say you get more for your money?

Angela - I was pretty nervous about it at first.  As a matter of fact I really wanted it to be me and mine but my eyes have really been opened and I love it!

Eric - lol, I said it wouldn't work for everyone.

It would be nice to have a husband that you could work that closely with. Congradulations. You are both very lucky to have each other.

Terri - Thanks and we both agree that we are very lucky.  We tell each other often how much we appreciate the other.

Hi, Tammy - It certainly can work.  My better half and I have been working together for the past almost 9 years. So far we're both still alive and I have most of my hair left. :)  People are forever asking us how we do it and we always tell them... I drink.. she takes pills. haha Truth is I can't imagine a better partner!

Tammy, we are also a husband and wife team and it works great!  Darcy's strengths are my weeknesses, and My strengths are also her strenths!  Just kidding, it does work well, and I for one love it!

Maurice and I do the same thing, sometimes it is frustrating others it is fun and rewarding.  There is a lot of "good cop" "bad cop" with me being the "good cop".  We have been doing this for 14 years and are still together personally and professionally.
