Tammy Anderson-Owens- Thoughts

Blah, Blah, Blah Bailout, Bailout, Bailout

What's the story?  Some of you agree with the bailout, some of you are completely against it.  Which is it?  Which one is going to help the economy and our industry?  Do we want our children and grandchildren to have to deal with a huge govermental debt?  NO.  Do we want the entire financial system of this country to fail?  NO.  Have we seen hard times before? YES  Will we see them again?  YES

I have been sitting here today reading blogs and MSN and watching the news and I agree it is bad.  The stock market has fallen at a historical rate.  Is it just everything correcting itself?  What is going to happen to all of these banks that are folding in front of our eyes?  Are there only going to be three banks by the end of it all?  We just don't know.

What we do know is that people are going to continue to buy homes.  Maybe not at the rate that they have been in the past several years but they are still going to buy and sell.  It's going to be harder for some people to get loans for these homes but that may be a good thing since that has a very large part in where we are today.  Buyers are going to be looking more at FHA loans again.  They are going to have to have money down for conventional loans.

I started to have a panic attack because we just purchased a RE/MAX office in Collinsville, IL and are in the process of relocating it.  I was thinking "What have I done?"  Then I snapped out of it.  I survived cancer and I sill survive this too!  Let's all try to lift each other up in this tough time instead of bringing each other down.  It will be OK!  It has to be!  We live in a great country where men and women can work, own a business, buy nice homes, cars and most importantly have food on their tables to feed their children.  This world is what we make it, let's make it a better one!

Thanks for telling us about stiffening your spine and projecting a positive attitude! That's what we all need to do at this time.

Congrats on beating cancer and owning your own business.  Bailout blah blah, I agree with you.  The damage is already done.

Hi Tammy,  I heard an analyst this morning discussing the bailout.  Her point was that if approx 35 %  of mortgage holders pay their mortgage ( Currently, approx 90 % are current. ) we will end up actually making a profit on this.  Amazing right ?

The market is going to do what the market is going to do and honestly we as agents can't change it but how we respond to it can make or break our individual careers.  If there was ever a time to sharpen our skills and master the FHA and other loan programs...now is THAT time.

Hi Tammy:  I am also a cancer surviver, I guess that's why I see things a lot differntly than others - a lot of things, if you look at it at a different light, it actually can look quite different.

This blog makes me think of something that I learned at my last place of employment.

I was taught that FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real.

Any time someone uses fear tactics to push something, we should really take a step back and not be sucked into the panic.  We often underestimate our resources and creativity.  Your business will do great.  Of course, we all may need to make adjustments to how we do business, however you are correct when you say that people will still be selling and buying homes.  Educating ourselves on the best way to help our clients will be the key to continuing success for ourselves and others.
