Tammy Anderson-Owens- Thoughts

Add dog sitter to my job description

I have had a showing scheduled for a week on one of my listings.  The seller even asked me yesterday if I knew which agent was showing it.  I get a call from the buyer's agent - "Hello Tammy, we're at the showing and there are dogs barking and we're not going in".  "OK, I'll be right there, please wait".  Showings are golden and I didn't want to lose it.  While in route to the house I called my seller and explained the situation.  She says "They won't bite, they're just babies but they might go the bathroom".  Then she proceeds to ask if I can take them outside to take care of business.  Sure, I can do that.  Keep in mind that they are little dogs and I wasn't afraid of them.  So I take them outside to do what they do and one takes off one way and one the other.  I'm calling them, offering treats and anything else I can do.  Today was a beautiful day so running after dogs left me a sweaty mess.  The showing laster for over an hour and a half!  I chased the cute little babies until I caught them, picked them up and put them in the laundry room.  By the way - my dog sitting adventure lasted so long I had to cancel a lunch that I have had scheduled for a couple of weeks.  THEY BETTER BUY THAT HOUSE!!  And people say we don't work hard enough for our money!!  :)

Too funny! Of course the dogs take off in different directions. I think that on occasion, they (puppies) do things like that on purpose just to try and goof on us. I hope the people who looked at the home buy it too. Or, you might get the same experience all over again! Thanks for sharing!

Tammy

Wow what a great showing.  Tell the sellers thanx, but you are going to add about .25 on commission every time you have to chase the dogs.   After all you are giving more than full service.

You're right - consumers have no idea what we do!  I'm going to be helping a client next week with creating curb appeal for her rental property - as in power wash the deck and trim the hedges while she mulches and plants.

Have fun with that Maragret.  I did get a LOW BALL offer on the house though so maybe we'll get it together and the dog sitting will be over  lol

Tammy ~ You have a healthy attitude about the whole thing. I hope they purchase the house, as well.

Tammy-It's great that you can reflect and give the situation some perspective.  It's good to be busy, even when you want to throw that phone out the window;)
