Earth Day is Today
Unless you have been asleep for several days you know that today is Earth Day. Earth Day is a day dedicated to the environmental health of our planet. In 1990 Earth Day became an international event on April 22. If you are anything like me I would see the Earth Day articles and news clips and they would go in one ear and out the other. For some reason this year I have waken up and taken notice.
You are starting to hear things about homes that are green and turning green. This does not mean green bricks and shingles but turning homes environmentally friendly. My purpose in this blog is to bring notice, to myself and you, some simple things that we can all do to help.
Older toilets use 3.7 to 7 gallon of water to flush.
Dishwashers use 8 - 14 gallon per cycle
Top Loading Washers use 45 gallons per load
Dripping faucets can use hundreds of gallons
Replace your regular light bulbs with fluorescent lights
Turn down your hot water heater
Use only energy efficient appliances
Wash and rinse with cold water
Drink tap water instead of bottled water
And my last but not least tip
Walk, ride a bike or carpool - It's good for you and the environment!
Have a Great Earth Day!!
