Could you partner with your better half? I did and I have to admit; I was a little worried about it at first. A year ago in August my husband's employer downsized and he lost his job. He looked for another job for little while but nothing really came up that would match what he previously did. We decided to jump in and he got his real estate license and I am so glad he did. We heard a lot of people express their concerns but I have to say they were unwarranted.
My husband is a numbers guy, I am a carefree, don't really care about the numbers, just give me the people kind of girl. Perfect Match! Perfect Team! Perfect Situation! Do we disagree, yes we do but we comprimise and get the job done. He's organized, I'm a messy mess. We balance each other. We play on each others strengths and it has paid off huge. Since my husband joined my team we have more than doubled my past production, we have purchased a brokerage and we have become even closer partners.
I can't say that we don't need to be seperate at times because we do but that's part of what makes this so perfect. I can be at the office and he can be working at the home office, I can be showing property and he can be attending a closing. He does the marketing, I write the contracts, we both show buyers homes.
Imagine cloning yourself as we often wish we could only better! We need to adapt to the personalities of our clients to get their faith and we all know that isn't always possible. My chances are so much better now because if he is a better match with a client, he takes over and vice-versa.
If I get one point across in this blog, it is that it can work. Maybe not for everyone but for a lot. So if you are thinking about joining forces with your spouse - Good For You and Go For It!
